In the United States, there are 4 to 5 million abandoned and orphaned pets euthanized each year. More than 500,000 of those pets euthanized in the U.S. are because owners did not appropriately plan for the lifetime care of their pets.
BLUEMOON MEADOWS CAN HELP YOU
BlueMoon Meadows provides an alternative solution to the shelter system, the streets, or private euthanasia for people who can no longer provide for their pets due to a long term illness or death.
WHAT WE BELIEVE IN (Our Vision)
At BlueMoon Meadows, we believe that our lives are enriched by pets, and we understand every owner’s fear of leaving them behind. BlueMoon Meadows gives pet owners the reassurance that their faithful friends who are left behind will not be forgotten, neglected, or die before their time.
OUR PURPOSE (Our Mission)
BlueMoon Meadows educates pet owners on how to make provisions for their pet’s future and provides lifetime care for pets that are orphaned due to their owner's illness or death. We will achieve this mission through:
Innovative outreach programs that provide a network of resources necessary
to plan for a pet’s future.
Individualized adoption programs that place Orphans into private loving homes or at our family home, "The Lodge at BlueMoon Meadows".
OUR RESIDENTS:
The pets in our care are or once were beloved companions (i.e. Orphans). They are not unwanted, unloved strays, but the unfortunate victims of their owners death or illness. Owners that entrust lifetime care of their beloved companions to BlueMoon, may choose for their fur-child to live their remaining years in our group family home (The Lodge at BlueMoon Meadows) or put their orphans up for private adoption. All forever homes, requesting adoption services are extensively assess for Orphan's appropriateness for their home. BlueMoon works extensively to match each Orphans into a private home.
WE PROTECT OUR ORPHANS:
Orphans adopted into a private homes maintain their lifelong resident status, meaning in case of an adopters death or illness the pet is returned to BlueMoon. This means all Orphans must return to BlueMoon, if for some reason the adopted family can no longer keep them. We find that this also allows the elderly to adopt knowing their BlueMoon orphan will be provided lifelong protection in case their pet outlives them. All domestic pets will be accepted in the future. Realistically, the first few years will be cats and dogs only.
By housing our Orphans in our foster homes, we are able to save lives before our group home is built. Even after The Lodge at BlueMoon Meadowsis operational, our foster network will continue to assist Orphans transition to forever homes. The foster home provides a transition period between life at their current home and their new forever home. In foster care, our Orphans, awaiting adoption, are given the opportunity receive the much needed love, time to grieve, and of course a safe shelter, food and medical care they deserve. The majority of our Orphans are already house companions, complete with all the manners necessary to live with a loving foster family.
