HOT WEATHER TIPS

Never leave your pet in a parked car. Even cracked windows wont protect your pet from overheating or suffering from heat stroke.

Exercise your dog in the early morning or evening hours when it is cooler.

Provide your pet with fresh, cool water every day.

Remember that asphalt and concrete can get very hot and burn the pads of your pets feet.

Your pet must always have shelter available to protect it from extreme temperatures.

Keep your pets safe! July comes with fireworks, thunderstorms and other loud noises. Protect your dog from being frightened by creating a safe place for him to retreat, distracting him with soothing music or toys, or in severe cases, consulting your veterinarian.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOUR PETS IF THEY OUTLIVE YOU?

It’s a sobering thought, but do you know who will take care of your pets if you should die or become physically unable to care for them? If plans are not carefully made, your pets may not be living as you had hoped. Whether your death turns out to be unexpected or not, securing your pets' care will give you peace of mind.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO MANY OF THESE BELOVED PETS?

Currently, over 500,000 pets each year are euthanized in shelters because their owners have passed away and failed to make plans for their continued care. This number excludes the thousands of orphans abandoned to die on the streets or who are privately euthanized by veterinarians because their owners believed they had no other choice.
