Meet Amber: 10-04-06
Amber 's elderly owner is moving to assisted living facility, and unable to keep her. BlueMoon accepted Amber into our program last week. Amber is a 5 y/o Shitzu. She is very friendly with people, dogs and cats. Upon her veterinarian health check, the vet discovered she currently has bladder stones occupying 2/3 of her bladder. Because she hasn't been to the vet in over a year, they have grown too large to be removed by cathertization, and must be surgically removed. They are proposing to do a cystotomy. Her prognosis is good if she gets the surgery; but without it she will continue to have limited bladder control.
The surgery is very expensive and we are looking for people to help sponsor Amber.
UPDATE 10-18-06
The surgery was successful! Prognosis is good! Thanks to everyone who helped with Amber! Thanks to her foster mom - Kelly ! for taking her into your heart and home. Amber will need special care (including a special diet) in her future and monitoring but we are expecting a full recovery!
UPDATE 11-1-06
Amber has almost fully recovered from her surgery. Thank you to all her Orphan Angels who enable her to have the surgery. She is now AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION and has several homes interested in her. She will require a special diet and careful monitoring; but is expected to live a full life. SHE IS LOOKING AT A VERY BRIGHT NEW FUTURE!
Update 11-5-06
Amber joined her forever home. The family is experience with her breed and special needs.... "I can't thank you enough for this gift. What a great personallity little Amber has. She spent the whole ride home on my lap and didn't fuss a bit. At night she sleeps curled up beside me. Each time I look in that little face I just melt inside. She and Tiny Bear are adjusting to each other nicely. Tiny loves having another furbaby to cuddle up with. And let me say how wonderful that foster home is Kelly, Kara & friends and all the four-footed residents - you could tell that they truely are caring and concerned about their fosters. Thank you for the wonderful work you all do. Sincerely Amber's new mom.
