Cheyenne

Meet Cheyenne:

Cheyenne is a beautiful long coat german shepherd dog, who ended up at a shelter because her mom was ill and could no longer care for her. Cheyenne is 4 years old and an import from Germany, and supposedly knows german commands. She is spayed, UTD on her shots and HW neg. She arrives on Sunday all the way from VA., we will post more information when we get to know her better, but one thing for sure is that she is a real beauty !!!!

April 28 update

Cheyenne arrived safely at Sue's around 9:00 PM last night. She was fine with Sue's pup and paid no attention to her cat. She rides well in a vehicle, and likes to "talk" to people, little whimpers and whines. She spent the night at Sue's uncrated with no problems whatsoever

Comments from one of Cheyenne's transporters:

OMG ........... All I can say is thank god you are taking Cheyenne in and she is not coming here in my rescue, otherwise i don't think she would be leaving. She is absolutely BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!! Just dropped her off about an hour ago to Sue. She is an angel riding in the car, she is  very sweet and friendly, did not show any signs of food aggression, looks like she may have a bit of a  prey drive the way she was watching things in the parking lot ( but we are all used to that with GSD's, so nothing out of the ordinary). I think you are going to be happy when you see her tomorrow.

April 29 update

Cheyenne has made it safely to her foster home. Right now.... all she wants to do is rest after a long transport! Thank you to all the people on the transport team who helped bring Cheyenne safely to BlueMoon

May 2, 2006 Update

Cheyenne arrived  April 30, after a long and difficult transport from VA. Cheyenne belonged to a very nice lady with cerebral palsy whose recent high risk pregancy made it impossible for her to care for Cheyenne any longer. Cheyenne was taken to a shelter.

Her owner was living in Germany with her spouse when she met another soldier who had purchased Cheyenne from a breeder over there, however, when he found out what it would cost and what he would have to do to get her back home , he decided he could not afford to bring her back to the states after all. That is when Cheyenne's owner stepped up and took her into her home and managed to get her safely back to the states with her. Cheyenne repaid her when her  illness became worse, and after some training she learned to walk with her nicely on leash, with no pulling or straining, and also would help her stand and sit down by allowing her to lean on her to do so.

Cheyenne's owner loved her very much, and was totally devoted to her, however with the baby coming , she was finding it difficult to groom and take care of cheyenne, and also do the vaccuming that a long coat shepherd requires at certain times of the year. If she had only known about Blue Moon Meadows, that could have  perhaps saved Cheyenne from spending some time in the shelter. However when we heard Cheyennes stort we stepped up and immediately got her to safety.

Cheyenne is around 4 years old, she is a german import with a large tattoo in her ear.She weighs about 65-70 lbs, and she is a doll. On her long trip to NY, she impressed everyone that she met. She encountered many other dogs, and a whole lot of  people and many new situations on her way, and she did great with everything and everyone. On her overnight with Sue (thanks Sue) she not only met her 4 mo old GSD pup , but also her resident Kitty, and did well with both, She did not even need to be crated overnight as she just laid next to Sue's bed with no problems and slept all night. The next morning she even did well meeting her horses, wow what a good girl.

Shannon and her daughters did the last leg of Chey's transport and they too fell under her spell, as she was loving and well mannered with the girls, the youngest being 12. Her owner also told me that she has lived with a 1 year old and a 4 year old in the past for about 6 mo,and did well. Cheyenne is a confident dog, that may do better as the only dog in the family, she is ok with my dogs, but she tends to be dominant with my male. So she wil need to meet any dog first to see how it would go. She will crate, but she seems to do fine loose and out of the crate. She knows, sit and down, she also knows shake, and she is great on leash. She settles nicely in the house, she has never been an "outside" only dog, and is well mannered  in the house, and totally housetrained. She is calm and laid back, but still likes to play and walk. She enjoys catching the ball when you throw it up in the air very much, but she does not obsess over the ball. Chey also likes to "talk", she makes cute little expressive noises that her Mom encouraged, and it is very cute and kind of funny to try and figure out what she is trying to tell you !!! She only barks if she sees someone comes near the house, or if someone comes to the door.

Cheyenne is UTD on her shots, including bordatello, spayed, no parasites and HW neg. Her teeth look great as her Mom brushed them for her.she is just in such good condition and her weight is perfect. Can you tell I really like this girl ????
