Don
$100 Karen Colosi

Don is a 2 yr old Boxer/ German Shepherd/ Bull Terrier (remember Spuds McKinsey ) whose owner became too ill to care for him anymore. Don is very confident and happy boy. He loves other dogs and people. He currently in boarding with Sonny and sharing a pen. He weighs around 45-50 pounds and is very compact. Don loves new things and is just full of life. He acts like he could play all day and be the life of any party! He is a very strong boy whose leash manners could use some refining. However, he very much wants to please you and is easy to train.

9-16-06 Update

Don has finally arrived !!!! He is a great dog, and being his new foster Mom, I am very impressed with Don's intelligence. He only arrived in my home this past Monday, and he has already learned several new behavior modifications, with very little effort on my part. He is NOT mouthy at all, he never tries to put your hands in his mouth, however, he DOES love to give you big sloppy kisses whenever he can get away with it. He has learned to sit down as soon as I take him out of the crate to put his leash on, he is doing very well with his jumping also, when I tell him "off" he sits right down, so I THINK HE HAS IT !!!! He will make a great watch dog as he will let me know if anyone comes near. Don loves to play, and his leash manners are improving every day. He seems to really want to please me at all times.

Don is a very compact and robust dog, he weighs about 50 lbs, he has the body of a bull terrier, but he reminds me a great deal of a boxer, he may have some shepherd in him too. Whatever his mix, he is a very happy dog, he almost smiles when he gets attention, and he thrives on it. He likes to play with other dogs, but he is non confrontational, he will back off as soon as he gets corrected by one of my dogs. He seems to be housetrained, he is fine and good in a crate, when I need to crate him. Don would benefit from an obedience class, and I actually think he would excel in one, and enjoy it thoroughly. I think he would be fine with kids, just not real young ones, as he could knock them over. He was tested with cats at the shelter, but as I dont have a cat, I would not want to guarantee it. All in all, I think he will make a great pet, he is just a nice boy, and as I said, very smart too !!! Don still remains a great dog, he is doing very well here. But he needs his own family in order for him to be finally settled. Don remains a happy and fun loving dog, and eager for all the love and attention you can give him, in spite of all he has been through in his short life. Don is a work in progress, but his intelligence and his willingness to please will serve him well , and in the end make him an excellent choice for the right adopter.

Nov 3, 2006 UPDATE:  Don is so ready for a home of his own !!!! I believe that he has boxer and french bull dog in his mix. He has the stocky bull dog body and the french bull dog ears, he has the boxer color, and a lot of the boxer traits. Whatever his mix, he is a happy boy, who loves attention, he is intelligent and learns quickly, he loves people and craves attention, but can also entertain himself, as he loves to play. If you are looking for an active and fun loving dog, Don is your best choice, he will excell in obedience and make you proud. He also will give you a chuckle everyday with his cute and funny antics !!!!

Don is up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered, and heartworm negative.

Jan 16. 2007 UPDATE:

Don has found his forever home. HI Beth, Don is doing great! Everyone is adjusting really well. I'll keep in touch. Vicki

Jan 21, 2007 UPDATE:

Don's new home is not a good fit for him. Even with behavior modification and training he still can not be trusted with the family Bird. Although it breaks their hearts, Vicki knows he must find another home.

If are wanting to adopt Don or would like more information please contact Beth: bdsalt@aol.com or call 716-676-2543.
