Kovac will be the only dog in the family, and other than sharing affections with the resident kitty, he will garnish all the doggie attention he deserves and thrives on. Marilyn and Bob formed an instant bond with Kovac, and I believe that Kovac felt it as well. Kovac will be a country boy, who will enjoy long walks and laying by Mom's side while she is working in her gardens. But Kovac;s very favorite thing in the whole world will be to lay quietly by their side and feel their special love for him all the rest of his days. What could be better than that !!!
Kovac was a dream foster, and I will miss him, but I know that he is where he belongs, what a great family !!!
Quick Note from Kovac's new family:
Hi Beth (and Dave)! Just letting you know that we arrived home a few minutes ago. Kovac traveled very well...chilled out for most of the way home.
Smokie's nose is bent out of joint a little but she's doig ok. When she first laid eyes on him, she turned into a round puffball...like a blowfish. Never saw her that poofy before! She seems to be doing better now...it was that initial shock that got her. Kovac really wants to get closer to her. He even started whining when she ran into another room. He seems happy to have discovered a potential new buddy.
I can see his personality a little more. He's certainly warmed up to us. By the way, did I mention that we love this dog?!?!?!
Thank you again for being such a special caregiver. What you do is a true gift and calling.
We'll keep you posted on this little guy! Boy do we feel blessed!!

Kovac's Story
Kovac has a very sad story. His owner became ill and he was taken out of the house and his dogs were left behind. Somehow they managed to escape the house and were left on their own, running the neighborhood. They were finally reported to the police, and they came and rounded them all up, Kovac was the last one to be caught, he had to go through the trauma of being snared, as he was very afraid, but not aggressive.
Kovac had been seen at the neighborhood school bus stop, trying to get on the bus with the children. All of the other dogs were adopted, but Kovac was on the list to be put to sleep on Tuesday Jan 31. Ron at the shelter took a real liking to him, and spent a lot of time with Kovac, and he started to come around, and that is when we stepped in.
Kovac is our first resident he was "sponsored" by BlueMoon's President. He was neutered and UTD on his shots at the shelter and started on his way to his new foster home on Feb 4th. And this is when his next ordeal began. When he arrived, he presented blood in his urine. I watched him carefully, gave him plenty of water, he was eating, so I just let him stay quiet in his crate. Later that evening the blood in his urine got worse. By Sunday morning his urine appeared to be like "tar", and he would not eat or drink, and was very listless. I took him immediately to the vet for an emergency visit. After 3 days at the vet, with antibiotic treatment and flushing the bladder, his urine improved and he was able to come home, but remains on his medication and needs to be watched carefully. The Vet believes he suffered some trama doing his neuter surgery. He is doing well and will fully recover from the ordeal.
Kovac is a collie mix, around 2-3 years old. He is a sweet boy, who seems to like everyone. He did live with other dogs, and he seems to be fine with mine. He loves to be petted, and will lay quietly by your side as long as you want him to. He walks well on a leash, is housetrained...he will bark when he needs to go outside.
I have already fallen in love with him, he is just so sweet. He is very easy to control, he only weighs 43 lbs, and should gain a little more weight, but he will not likely to exceed 50 lbs. He is very easy to handle.
and wants only to please you.
Kovac has had a very traumatic past, I believe that he was well treated and an inside dog, maybe even pampered and spoiled. He is gentle and affectionate without being pushy. Kovac is now ready for Adoption. If you are interested in this wonderful boy please visit our adoption page.
Kovac is HeartWorm negative, neutered, up-to-date on all shots (including kennel cough) and has been wormed.
