Mugsy is a male German Shepherd mix approximately 7 years old who was brought to a shelter because his owner passed away, he has been at the shelter since 3/29/06. Like many of our orphans, Mugsy was taken to a shelter when his owner died. The shelter has tried their best to find a new home for him but Mugsy just one of the hundreds mature dogs passed over. PLEASE show you pet some compassion and make arrangements for your pets continuous care. Mugsy is reserved yet charming canine searching for patient owner with relaxed lifestyle. He prefers people company to playing with toys. Mugsy needs that special person of his own...he has so much love and time to still give that special person. Mugsy is up-to-date with his vaccinations and neutered. 5-16-05 Update Mugsy is a petite little shephard guy weighing only 42 lbs. His shelter record says he weighed 48 lbs on 3/29- the day things went bad for Mugsy after the death of his dad. He is a pretty creamy color with a "mohawk-like" strip of hair down his back which is longer and darker than the rest of his coat. Although 7 yrs chronological in age, he's a much younger heart. He'll play with my 5 mo female GSD and did well with son's 2 yo female lab. Mugsy did good meeting my 3 yo and 5 yo grandchildren, and he doesnt mind cats at all (He's doing great living with my bold cat.) Although his leash walking isn't the greatest, it isn't bad either. He does know sit and shake. He adapted to crate training quickly. I crate him only at night to keep some order with my pup and cat. Mugsy-Bugsy is housebroken . I think Mugs would be a great dog for anyone or family. He's a good good boy. And I'm enjoying being his foster mom. Please consider Mugsy if you are looking for a sweet, medium size companion who'll give his all to some lucky adopter. Although 7 yrs chronological in age, he's a much younger heart. I wanted to let any interested parties know that this guy is only about 42 pounds and stands 22 inches at the shoulder. He's about 3 feet long, nose to hind end (minus the tail). The only time he seems bigger is when he's lying in bed with me. THEN HE'S HUGE! He's very calm and is content to lay around and relax. The only time he's excited is when he thinks he's going for a R- I- D- E. He's pretty good on the leash. He doesn't pull and really pays no attention to other animals while on the leash. I took him down by the water, (I live by a lake) and he's a little skittish. He wouldn't take a step in. He might though if his owners were in. Mugsy was great when we went to Petco last Sunday. He interacted wonderfully with all of the other animals and with the attention he received from strangers. He only barked when other dogs barked. Speaking of barking, Mugsy doesn't bark when strangers come to the door. When I tell him someone's here, he just cocks his head with that "huh?" look, with those ears perked right up! :) The only other times I've noticed him bark is when I get his leash and he thinks he's going on a R- I- D- E or when we're in the car and he has to go to the bathroom. He starts to whine and bark some. Other than that, he's quiet. Since Mugsy's 7, he's past all of the puppy issues and he's nice and calm. He prefers to have all sorts of cuddling and loving to playing with toys or rough housing. This guy will be a wonderful addition to any family. As you can see in the photo, Mugsy loves kisses especially from pretty girls like Glory.
