Meet Purcilla: 5-18-06

Purcilla is an extremely sad story. Purcilla was riding with her family on a pleasant outing when they involved in a very serious accident. The "Mom" was killed instantly, and the rest of the family members were seriously injured. When the police and paramedics arrived to the scene they found Purcilla and her three housemates were laying at her deceased mom' feet, and they did not want to leave her. With the whole family being seriously injured the police had no choice but to take her to a shelter, so her whole world has been turned upside down.

During her shelter vet exam, Purcilla tested positive to Heartworm. Besides the Heartworm, she escaped the accident with no major injuries and is in good health. The shelter needs a organization that will pay for her $125 dollar treatment on top of her other expenses. BlueMoon Meadows would very much like to help Purcilla, but we would need donations to be able to help her. She is strong and if treated she should have no long term health impact from the Heartworms. She will give some lucky family years of devotion.

Purcilla is young girl and just the friendliest dog you will ever meet.  We believe she is a Border Collie - Retriever or Newfoundland mix, so she has both brains and beauty. So far it looks like I get along well with others, even cats. I had cats at my old home but one of them didn't make it. I get along well with other dogs and even cats.

MORE TO THIS STORY............ we just spoke with the shelter's director.

There were four dogs in the car that survived the crash. Three dogs escape injury, including Purcilla, however Macy went through the windshield and was treated for a head injury. One dog has already found a new home and Macy, Roxy and Purcilla are still waiting and time is running out. Especially for Roxy, like Purcilla, Roxy needs Heartworm treatment, and will not be adopted out without someone to pay for her vet costs. BlueMoon will consider Roxy and Macy if we can raise the money for all three of them. The shelter is sending us pictures of Roxy and Macy. All three dogs are currently in a Humane Society shelter in Chillicothe, MO. The shelter is also looking for donations for these orphans and has treated them very well since the late March accident. However, funds are only so much and dogs requiring vet costs without sponsorship face euthanasia. Now, the story even gets WORSE. After a few weeks, the police went to the deceased woman's home and found 16 more DOGS and cats. They were starving and living in horrendous conditions. All the animals were taken to the shelter. One orphan had to be euthanized and some have adopted. The shelter is working on getting all of the remaining orphans placed in loving homes. Roxie and Puricilla are in the "most" danger due to their Heartworm infestion. We will continue to stay abreast of the situation and ALL donations we be used to help these orphans.

If you can find it in your heart to help give this loyal, loving girl a second chance (or help us save any more of the orphans), please do so as soon as you can, as they will need to make a decision on her soon, whether she lives or dies.
